FarmHouse Bed

January 5, 2013 by Mo Leave a Comment

The Farmhouse bed I build for my eldest was my biggest undertaking so far. It very similar in style that the one Ana White build but I made a few changes to the bed. The double trim at the cap of the headboard and the foot-board was just a bit much and I only used one cap.

The headboard and foot-board has no metal fasteners (screws), I just used biscuits and glue. I think this would be plenty strong enough for this application. I used a lot of clamps and the Jet clamps are awesome, pricey but awesome.Time will only tell if this hold up. The base is attached to the headboard and foot-board with 4 beefy bolts. This allows me to keep the bed modular and once the 4 bolts is remove the bed is broken down in to 3 pieces that can be moved easily.

I used a combination of Douglass-fer and pine wood that got a dark-walnut sealer applied to give it some color. He loves his bed and it didn’t break the bank.
